One thing almost everybody has are cars. Not everybody may own a house. But in general, most people need to own a car for many reasons. It is hard to survive without having one when living in America.  With that being the case it is important to make sure you make your cars last longer.

The main way to do that I tell all my clients of my auto repair San Diego shop is to make sure you regularly maintain your car.It is like going to the doctor for regular checkups. Even though you are well, you are definitely willing to go to prevent any sickness. With cars, it is basically the same thing.Instead of waiting it is absolutely cheaper to take it in to ensure that nothing goes wrong.

To make sure to take it in for regular tune ups is the first thing you want to do.  Tune ups are where you check all the fluids and spark plugs. You also need to perform several diagnostic tests to ensure that the major parts are working well.  Doing this keeps your car running well.Passing the smog test will also help.  In my smog test San Diego service we always recommend older cars to do regular tune ups.  Because the older your car gets the harder it is to pass a smog test.

Another thing you want to maintain are your brakes to your car.  This is important because brakes that fail are dangerous. Plus they are seriously expensive to have repaired.Like most things, it is better to keep in good condition than waiting for it malfunction.  All my San Diego brake shop clients are given step by step instructions on helping maintain their brakes. This always helps them keep their brakes longer so that they can save from the replacement of brake.

So those are a couple of tips you can follow to make sure your car lasts longer. In the long run good maintenance saves you money by having less major repairs.

There are a lot of changes as we go from summer into winter.Weather is naturally one of them.  But did you know the change in weather also affects your car?It would seem that there are more cases of auto problems encountered during winter time.If you live in a place where the weather is usually harsh then your car can really break down.We would be discussing some reasons as to why cars are affected by the weather.

In my Escondido auto repair service the biggest cold weather problem are dead batteries.  The main reason is because when it is cold your battery is usually powering a lot more things in your car.And because of that it runs a little harder.  Your headlights are usually running longer with the shorter days. And the heater also takes more energy from the battery as compared to an aircon. So to prevent battery problems you must always look at your batteries if they are in good condition before going out in harsh weather.

Next problem that happens in the cold weather are frozen fuel lines.  This isn’t a big auto problem for my Oceanside auto repair service.  But this is a big problem in cold weather cities. This happens when you let your car run low on fuel and then the condensation starts. And if that condensation freezes it can stop the fuel from flowing.  The best way to avoid that is to not let your fuel run low in the winter.

Tire pressure is another one of those problems when it is cold.Pressure can be lost on tires if the weather is cold. This would be bad because it can hasten the rate of making the tires go bald.Bald tires can be fatal on icy roads. So this is really a serious problem. So you must make it a point also to always check the pressure of the tires of your car.

So those are some of the most common auto problems during cold season.Doing the tips mentioned above will lead to prevention of some of those problems.  And when it is cold you definitely don’t want to have those problems.

With the kind of economy that we are in right now people are making sure that their things last longer.Gone are the days when people would easily dispatch old things to buy new ones instead. That includes cars nowadays. To make sure tht your cars will last a long time you e have to make sure that you regularly maintain them.  Because with cars if you don’t care for them they will break down.So here are some advice on maintaining your car’s life.

First of all one of the biggest mistakes clients of my auto repair San Diego shop do is not change their oil regularly.Let us similarize our blood to the oil of the car.Without it your car can’t live. And if you do not replenish its oil regularly then the running condition of the car will be affected. In the long run, this can remove some years off your car’s life.  If you want your car to last longer change your oil often.

Doing tune-ups regularly should be the next thing that you should do.An engine that is not functioning well would be the resut of not doing regular tune-ups. What happens when you have older cars that don’t run well is failed smog tests.  In my San Diego smog check shop most of the cars that fail were cars that didn’t do regular tune ups.It is a simple thing to do but will have a very big impact on the longevity of your car.

Last thing would be to take care of your brakes.  In my San Diego brake service business I try to let my clients know how important it is to care for your brakes. This an important thing in your car and you do not want it to be failing especially if you are on the road with your family.  Plus it is very expensive to replace ruined brakes.Always maintain the level of your break fluids. And be easy on stepping on your breaks.  Don’t do sudden stops but always prepare for your stops.

Do this and you will make your car last.

Cars right now are better made than the cars before.  Even cars once considered cheap last longer. But even if cars are more durable now problems still happen from time to time. One of the major problems a car can have is by having problems with the transmission.  Not only is it one of the biggest problems but it can also be one of the most expensive.

So here are some things to look for that I have learned running my Escondido transmission repair company.  First of all you want to keep good transmission fluid levels.  If you don’t you could burn up your transmission fast.So always carry around your dipstick for you to be able to check the fluid levels of your car.See to it that it is always filled at a good level.

Second thing you have to check is if it is already dirty.  A dirty transmission fluid could be signs of a problem.  If you find that the fluids are dirty or black then have it checked immediately.  I get cars in all the time at my Oceanside transmission repair shop that have this problem. But since they brought it in for checkups earlier they were able to avoid more costly repairs.

So if you decide to do the maintenance yourself you should be cautious.  When you change the fluids make sure you buy the right fluid for your transmission. It can be surprising but people make mistakes and they sometimes put in a wrong type of fluid. The transmission would be burnt up in no time if someone mistakenly does this.  So when changing your fluids take extra care to put in the right one.  I tell all my clients of my Escondido auto repair shop when in doubt just have professionals do it for you.  For such an expensive to replace part of your car it makes sense.

So if you look for these few things you can save your transmission.Doing the steps mentioned above will take you only a few a minutes but can save you a lot of money.
