Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned pro, getting your site to rank well can be a trying experience. I’m going to cover some of the more important things you’ll need to do in order to get great results quickly and efficiently.
Make no mistake, Page Rank (PR) is always significant. PR is Google’s measure of authority and authority is something like the number of times other sites link to yours. High PR pretty much ensures you good search engine positioning. Focusing on building Page Rank, although important in the long term, should not be the only thing you try to do. Webmasters have been force-fed that their businesses will live and die with Page Rank. Your bottom line is ultimately determined by how much traffic you convert. Page Rank has virtually nothing to do with your bottom line.
Good rankings rarely come from a half-hearted attempt at search engine optimization. The approach may include trial and error on your part truly understand what methods do and do not work. Number one on your list of things to do is simple: Your site needs to turn traffic into action. Aside from designing and ensuring your website looks professional, you have to be able to structure your site in such a way that it sells. Here’s where the rubber meets the road: Getting a visitor who has found your site via search to take action is Search Engine Marketing. {Here is precisely where the Clickbank Affiliate Loophole really excels.} Somehow we’ve been led to believe that search is god and traffic is king. This is flat out wrong. Conversion is king. You can make any site rank. Not every site converts!
Never, ever develop a site before you’ve done your keyword research. The keywords you choose will determine site structure and content and more importantly, your marketing. What are the core SEM best practices? This is simple – We must build backlinks to our site. And when adding our backlinks, we need to use our keyphrases and keywords as anchor text whenever and wherever possible. Back links from high Page Rank sites are going to be more powerful than links from low Page Rank sites. But a link is better than no link, and lots of links is better yet. Given that we need backlinks, what’s the perfect number? Only your competition can answer these questions. If you have little or no competition in your niche, you’re good to go – a smattering of links will do! Your anchor text will determine what keywords your site and pages will rank for. Get the anchor text right and you can do very well with just a few backlinks no matter the Page Rank of the site linking back to you. Solid search engine rankings are necessarily a matter of marrying your anchor text to your keywords. Get this wrong and your site is headed for search engine oblivion.
Of course the traffic you generate as a result of your link building efforts is wasted if you’re not testing. And testing is at the very heart of conversions. Guess what? We’re right back where we began – talking about conversions! I’m going to leave a more detailed post about conversion tactics and strategies for later. I want to let some of this sink in before the real fun starts. So – stay tuned! Don’t worry, converting your traffic is the best part of your job!
